Dr. Ziai is Associate Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Anesthesia/Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Baltimore, USA. She conducts research in mechanisms of injury and recovery in intracerebral hemorrhage with specific interest in the acute management of intraventricular hemorrhage. As Safety Committee Chair for the NIH sponsored MISTIE III and CLEAR III trials investigating minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques to treat hemorrhagic stroke, she has developed clinical trials methodology in the safety management of high acuity brain injured patients. She is Chair of the NCRC Grants Committee for the Neurocritical Care Society (NCS) and Associate Editor for the journal Neurocritical Care.
