TETSUO ASHIZAWA
Tetsuo Ashizawa, MD is Professor in Neurology, Houston Methodist Academic Institute and Will Cornell Medical College. Throughout his career he primarily worked on inherited neurological diseases caused by expanded microsatellite repeats. These disorders include spinocerebellar ataxias, Friedreichs ataxia, myotonic dystrophy, Huntingtons disease and more. He is Corresponding PI of the NIH U01-funded READISCA study which aim to establish clinical trial readiness for SCA1 and SCA3. He serves on and the Medical and Research Advisory Board of the National Ataxia Foundation (NAF) and on the steering committee of the Ataxia Global Initiative (AGI). He also investigate the mechanism involved in the conserved extended haplotype of SCA10 under an NIH R01 funding with multiple Brazilian investigators.
