Dr. Amandeep Taggar is an Assistant Professor in Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto and a Clinician-Investigator at the Odette Cancer Centre/ Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He also holds an affiliate scientist position at Sunnybrook Research Institute. He completed his undergraduate degree in chemistry honours finishing his thesis on nuclear magnetic resonance properties of liquid crystals. He also completed his MSc in Advanced Therapeutics and Oncology at the University of British Columbia where he worked on encapsulation of chemotherapy drugs into liposomes. After receiving his MD from the University of British Columbia, he completed his residency in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Tom Baker Cancer Center at the University of Calgary, and his fellowship in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York focusing on brachytherapy. He specializes in treating patients with gynecologic and gastrointestinal malignancies and his practice involves MRI guided radiotherapy and brachytherapy/interstitial brachytherapy. He has specific interest in developing novel treatment protocols with MR Linac. He has supervised a number of medical students, residents and fellows and authored/co-authored more than 20 peer reviewed publications.
