Título

TEMPORAL ANALYSIS OF HOSPITALIZATIONS AND DEATHS IN THE SUS NETWORK DUE TO COLORECTAL CANCER, IN THE PERIOD 2010 TO 2020 AND COSTS GENERATED.

Introdução

Colorectal cancer (CCR) is the third most common type of cancer in the world. Risk factors are linked to lifestyle habits. According to INCA, CCR is the 3rd cause of death from cancer in Brazil. Because it has a slow evolution and is curable when detected early, its early diagnosis is essential.

Objetivo

The objective of this study is to describe the incidence, general mortality and total costs of admissions in the SUS network for rectal cancer in the period from 2010 to 2020.

Método

Cross-sectional, descriptive study, performed with secondary data available at the SIH-SUS of the Informatics Department of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). All cases registered from January 2010 to December 2020 in the hospital network of SUS Brazil were considered, obtaining variables related to the number of admissions and deaths due to colorectal cancer, in addition to the total expenses invested in the disease. The ICD list, federation unit, gender and age group of patients hospitalized for this disease were considered.

Resultado

Regarding hospitalizations, the region with the highest number was the Southeast (203,471); The units among the first in the federation are occupied by São Paulo (104,748) and Paraná (65,100), already in last place, they are Amapá (152) and Acre (224). The year 2018 (49,152) had the highest number of hospitalizations and 2010 (24,229) the lowest number, 2020 was the year with the greatest variation (-11%), with females (220,751) and the age group from 60 to 69 years (123,923) represent the highest value. Regarding deaths, the highest rates were in 2018 (3,992) and 2019 (4,188) and the years that had fewer deaths were 2010 (2,362) and 2009 (2,573), 2020 was the year with the greatest variation (-10%). Regarding expenses, the total costs were R$933,272,513, with 2017 (R$107,570,182) being the highest amount recorded.

Conclusão

It was shown that São Paulo had the highest number of hospitalizations in the last decade. Women aged 60 to 69 years together were the group that most hospitalized for CCR and the year with the highest number of deaths was 2018. Regarding expenses, 2017 was the year with the highest expenditure.
