Dr. Sumiyama graduated the Jikei University School of Medicine in 1998 and received PhD degree in 2003. He was also a former post-doctoral fellow at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine (2005-7). He has been promoting a series of both basic and clinical research in the filed of gastrointestinal endoscopy as a primary investigator especially focusing on developmental research for submucosal endoscopy, NOTES and endoscopic full thickness resection. He has published 300 papers and 456 abstracts so far.
